Learn to think like your customers or clients

If you are going to promote yourself to your market then you need to learn to think like they do.  In other words you need to know what it is that they want from you, because that is the only thing they are interested in - what is in it for me?  (WIIFM)

 

For example Premier Inn, a hotel chain I have used in the UK have worked out that most of their customers are only interested in getting a good night's sleep. Sure they may have the odd meal in the restaurant and/or a drink but the most important thing to them is to get a good night’s sleep. The hotel has notices in every corridor and every door which say – "sssh! our guests are sleeping."  In the reception area there is a big notice that says – “If you haven’t had a good night’s sleep and it is our fault you don’t pay.”  The first time I saw that I thought Wow!  That is a guarantee that means something.

 

So work out what your customers want from you and make sure that everything you do to promote your product is geared towards that, so that your customers or clients will also say ‘Wow!’ Oh-and what guarantee can you give that will, in the eyes of your customer make you hurt, cringe and double up in pain?  Maybe I can help you here.
