A simple way to get things done
We all have days when we just need to knuckle down and get things done. And even when we don’t when we look back on our day we find that we could have been far more productive. So here is a tip that will help you to become more efficient with your time on any particular day. Just discipline yourself not to open your emails.
I can just envisage everybody throwing their hands up in the air as they read that last sentence. But the reality is that we give our emails far too much priority. Sure there are some (maybe 20%) which do need our attention but is it not necessarily urgent attention that is required. The rest of them are either junk, jokes, or useless information. So that 80% distracts you from what you really need to be doing. So why not discipline yourself to leave your mail box closed until you have got those must-do tasks out of the way. Because if the box is open and the mailbox signals an incoming email then you are sure to be distracted. Try it – you will be amazed at the difference it makes.
