Do what others don't do
It’s worth recalling that when you’re up to your backside in alligators that your original intention was to drain the swamp – and many of us feel at the moment that we are in that position.
So you need to think clearly and get back to basics.
So here is a strategy you might like to think about: Do what others don’t do!
Many times we look at what others are doing and decide to do the same thing. For example, we look at a competitor’s advert and think “That looks good!’ and copy it.
That’s not a bad idea if the advert is working. But what if it isn’t (and the chances are high)?
So the question is, what are you doing differently to your competitors? Sadly, for most the answer is nothing!
Look closely at your business and ask “What can we do differently?” Then do it. You’ll be surprised at the results!
To take it a bit further, don’t assume that your competitors are using Zoom and Facebook and all the online bells and whistles. Because whilst there are some out there doing it, chances are they may be in a different market sector than you are, or the way it is presented could be improved, or any number of things.
After all, your corner of the market is in little old New Zealand, and probably only a small slice of the country. Most of the online promotions I’ve seen are going out worldwide. So properly targeted and properly presented your line will be baited specifically to catch the fish of your own choice.
