A simple idea to help you avoid getting into a rut

We are all creatures of habit. We get up the same time, go through the same bathroom routine, get ready for work and then drive off – so easy to get into a rut before you even arrive at work so why not try to vary it now and then?

Here are a few ideas;

  • Get up earlier and go for a walk or a bike ride occasionally.
  • Change your routine and have a shower first instead of last.
  • Leave a little later. Treat yourself - the office can do without you for an hour or two. But if you do that use the time profitably. Sit down at home and think about your business and where you want it to go.
  • Take a different route to work. It is amazing just by changing the way you drive to work or drive home can freshen you up. I have 4 or 5 alternate routes at my disposal and at least once a week I take a longer but more refreshing drive home. I find that it helps me to relax before I change modes into my home habitat.

These are just a few ideas and there are probably many more. But do something different occasionally and get your day off to a different start, or finish as the case may be – and who knows what it will do to your creative juices.
